Remarks: Caterina Lichtenberg is one of the world's most renowned classical mandolinists. Raised in Germany, she graduated with honors from the Cologne University of Music and Dance. Today, she is a professor of classical mandolin/soprano lute at the Wuppertal campus of the Cologne University of Music and Dance (the only position of its kind worldwide). For over 20 years, Caterina Lichtenberg has been recording albums, teaching, and touring throughout Europe, Japan, Taiwan, South America, Canada, and the US, where she has received rave reviews. In January 2016, Caterina Lichtenberg was signed as a classical mandolin teacher at the online music school Artist Works. Her collaboration with American mandolinist Mike Marshall brought together two of the world's greatest mandolinists. Their first recording blurred the boundaries between their classical, jazz, bluegrass, and Brazilian musical backgrounds. Their second release was duets by Johann Sebastian Bach (the two-part inventions, organ duets, and canons) for mandolin and mandocello, which appeared in 2015. Their third CD features original compositions by Caterina Lichtenberg and Mike Marshall. To date, Caterina Lichtenberg has released 14 CDs under her own direction with various chamber music ensembles, five of them with guitarist and lutenist Mirko Schrader. As a specialist in historical instruments, she was invited to record on a mandolin from 1775 from the Ferdinandeum Museum in Innsbruck.
